Crash test video for Traban Car. Unfortunatelly we do not know the actuall speed of the test in this Trabant video. If someone knows please add a comment.
This short video seems to be most viewed "Trabant" video on Youtube. As of May 2009 there were almost 800 thousand views. We are going to post more interesting videos in the future.

Trabant frame is from steel and roof, bootlid, fenders, doors and some other parts are from Duroplast (strengthened plastic). This design in theory do not provide much crash protection. But in some crash tests it scored better then some modern small hatchbacks. Trabant was the first car with a body made of recycled material.

After unification, as production eventually stopped, it became something of a cult symbol. Now two German companies are hoping to tap into the tiny car’s fame to bring back the Trabant, re-envisioned as an electric car.
