There were four principal variants of the Trabant. First type was P50, also known as the Trabant 500. Those first Trabants were produced between 1957 - 1962.

In June 2007 Trabant has its 50th anniversary. More than 2,000 Trabant owners in Germany had gathered to celebrate this event. Trabant was a car loved by the stars. You can book a Royce these days and probably get the delivery in a year's time assuredly. But in a Trabant's case, one year wasn’t too long a waiting period for few even booked it but never got the car.
